An Indulgent Breakfast – Of Amazing Pancakes, Blood Oranges & Julie Song’s Story

October 17, 2010 | 7,396 views

Cute Kid holding a Blood Orange

Blood Orange – Not your average orange, this one “bleeds” love and passion. Indulgence style.

After checking in into the resplendent ‘mansion’ of a room; the glam and glitzy Giulianna, we proceeded to a wonderful feast during dinner; using the freshest of local and imported seasonal ingredients and impressed with the marvelous culinary skills of Julie Song and her dedicated team in the kitchen.

Desserts Counter @ Indulgence

Before you can even sit down at the comfortably-plush sofas at Indulgence, you will have to resist temptations in the form of freshly baked desserts and cakes every morning. How deceptively devilish ….

Indulgence provides a complete Bed & Breakfast package, and I was given ample time to snooze my way into the weekend before coming down for breakfast. Breakfast is served from 9am until 12pm daily (except when they’re closed on Mondays & Tuesdays, but the restaurant is still opened for hotel guests).

Desserts from the Counter

Almost like artworks, the tarts, pies and cakes at the counter seem to beckon me over …. in a trance-like manner. Not easy to resist a bite or two, before going for the REAL breakfast sets.

Continue reading after the jump, for the story behind Indulgence, the incredibly fluffy and light ricotta pancakes named Belissa, my first bite of the imported blood orange, and how you can order made-to-order cakes from Indulgence ….. Read the rest of this entry »

Feast Like A King @ Indulgence Restaurant, Ipoh

October 11, 2010 | 15,327 views

Continued from Part 1 of The Indulgence Experience – Indulgence Living; More Than A Boutique Hotel

Dining Environment

At Indulgence, you’d feel as though you’re being transported to another dimension, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, albeit being smack in the heart of the city. Minutes turn to hours without you even realizing it. Just Good food, Good company, and a jolly Good time.

Indulgence Restaurant is an award winning dining establishment, having won several Hospitality Asia Platinum Awards for Excellence. To imagine that this stellar restaurant’s roots stemmed from the charming, inconspicuous and quaint half-shoplot cafe in Canning Garden way back in 1996.

Julie Song; the brains behind the concept, injects so much passion, energy and time into the setting up, running and maintenance of Indulgence. This is reflected by the sheer number of loyal customers (come on a weekend, and you’d better reserve your table!) perpetually on the lookout for her Specials written with chalk on the blackboards, and drooling over her dynamically-evolving menu. She assured me that nothing on the menu is permanent, and she changes the ingredients (mostly imported) from time to time based on the freshest produce of the season.

Specials Menu on Blackboard

The Specials Menu with special creations written on the blackboard. You will see the waiting staff carrying the board to your table while taking your order, so you don’t have to squint at the board on the wall.

Wanna know what we were served that evening? Keep reading for a gastronomic journey in a most Indulgent manner  ….. Read the rest of this entry »

More Than A Boutique Hotel – Indulgence Living @ Ipoh

King-sized Bed with Mirror of Toi

Giulianna @ Indulgence Living, Ipoh – Timeless Italian Influences

“Whimsical cabinetry is faux painted and small mirrors are flushed into the mantle piece. Above the king bed hangs the proud silver framed mirror of Toi. It is an art nouveau piece ….” (snippets from Indulgence Restaurant & Living)

Thanks to a kind (and timely) invitation from Julie Song, the proprietress of Indulgence Restaurant & Living, I was treated to a fabulous stay at one her passionately designed room; Giulianna.

A Friday Made Right – An Indulgent Teaser

October 8, 2010 | 843 views

Key to Indulgence

Key to Indulgence – When everything’s not going your way … Close your eyes. Embrace the serene, posh surroundings. Breathe in the fresh garden air. Strip down to your vulnerable, inner self and reflect. Indulge in a most tantalizing feast to the senses.

Pot of Soils

Go out to the Gardens. Dig in with your bare hands. Scoop some soil and feel the earth beneath you. Sneak a peek at the kitchen. Forget about rules and regulations. Rigidity kills creativity; Breeds contempt; Lay the foundation to procrastination.

Souffle to End the Day

Let misery crumbles. Succumb to temptations. Loosen that belt buckle. Sit back and listen to the chatters amongst long lost friends. Rendezvous between lovers. Deep family bonds rekindled again. A Cherry Souffle with Redcurrant Sorbet, anyone?

Goodnight @ Indulgence

Bids goodnight to the World. Rejuvenate your fatigued body. Recharge that drained battery. Forget about the lame continual meetings (3 full days of pointless meetings = Destruction of productivity). And the incessant blabbering of an ancient T-Rex still thinking that the world revolves around him. And him only.

* This is a teaser post, written with a half-asleep mind. Pardon the insanity, but promise to give a full account on the very next day. Or the day after. Whatever …….
