Liberated : Motormouth Runs Havoc Around Ipoh Town!

September 18, 2013 | 6,021 views

Pusing Curry Prawn Mee @ Ipoh Old Town

Pusing Famous Curry Mee @ Dong Long Coffee Shop, Jalan Sultan Yussuf (Belfield Street), Ipoh Old Town – The stall was previously operating at Lim Ko Pi. Famous for their freshwater prawns curry mee (for only RM5.80!), and their homemade Hakka noodles (tao ma che) with a springy texture; like pan mee.

Still on the prowl armed with a phone in hand (instead of my trusty Nikon D7000), I spent most of the long weekend break hopping around Ipoh town for food. Slightly liberated from the neverending ‘task’ to seek out for the latest food joints in town, I fell back on firm favourites of mine; interspersed with a few new experiences here and there.

Chicago-style Pizza in the Heart of Ipoh

September 24, 2011 | 5,965 views

Cheesy Chicago Pizza @ Michelangelo's Pizzeria
Chicago-style Pizza – A throwback to the American interpretation of authentic, thin-crusted and lighter Italian pizzas with a twist. A MAJOR twist; since they tripled the dough and loaded the pizza with at least double the amount of ingredients.

Still reeling from the shocking revelation yesterday, woke up craving instead for something much more substantial; a chunky-loaded pizza with an overflow of ingredients like salami, Italian sausages, olives and an overkill of cheese would be ideal.

This Chicago-style pizza is a remnant of the original version aptly named Deep Dish Pizza, and looking at the shots featured in this article on Wikipedia, it’s hard to ignore why.

Michelangelo’s Pizzeria strives to rework this concept, bringing this gargantuan of a sinful creation to Ipoh with a slight adaptation; they do away with the deep dish concept; of a bowl-like structure ‘stuffed’ with ingredients.

Of Changes, The Flood & Giant Cinnamon Rolls @ A Pizzeria

January 3, 2011 | 3,615 views

Giant Cinnamon Roll

Michelangelo’s Pizzeria – Giant Cinnamon Roll; soon to be a permanent fixture on their dessert menu; made freshly every other day. (RM7.50/USD2.40)

And the first Sunday of the year was spent eating, resting, catching up on life, eating, and eating again. That’s how good life currently is, before I jump back into the thick of the action tomorrow. Can’t imagine how much I have neglected the finer details in life, the simplest of gestures and the most basic functions of humanity and relationships.

As they say, you ain’t gonna treasure what you have til it’s gone. So remarkably true, it hurts.

Start your Monday with more rants from Motormouth? Right on ….. Read the rest of this entry »

(NON-Halal) Kindly allow me to intercept the usual drool-worthy food posts on Motormouth From Ipoh (don’t snigger back there!!) and bring you a community service message.

Ahem, fine. This may not be as selfless nor angelic, but if you manage to squeeze in a little time on any of the remaining evenings of this week, consider dropping by Michelangelo’s Pizzeria for they are running a very, VERY limited time promotion.

Michelangelo’s Pizzeria @ Ipoh – Celebrations

Baby Back Ribs Pizza Promotion (ended in Oct 2010) – http://www.j2kfm.com/baby-back-ribs-pizza-michelangelos-pizzeria-ipoh-promotion/

Since Michelangelo’s Pizzeria (www) changes their menu and specials of the week/month from time to time, this post will be constantly being updated with the latest promotions from Ipoh’s most beloved pizzeria, specials of the week (they change at blistering speed, so you’d better check the latest updates on this page) and maybe a contest or two in the future.

Great Pizzas from Michelangelo's Pizzeria

Elevated on those huge but hollowed Heinz tomato paste cans, the pizzas at Michelangelo’s Pizzeria are never short of fresh, quality ingredients.

Currently, Michelangelo’s Pizzeria is offering a special MEATBALL Pizza (scroll down for a better look), with Italian style of chunky and dense balls of pork laced with herbs and spices, generously thrown on the dough with melted mozzarella and fresh tomato paste. If you’re a meatball lover, you CAN’T give this a miss !!! For limited time only!

Meatball Pizza + Chicken of the Sea

Meatball Pizza & Chicken of the Sea (Tuna, Onions, Pineapples)

Good thing about dining at Michelangelo’s Pizzeria is that you can mix and match your pizzas, and the ingredients that go onto the base. Select up to two choices for each pizza (don’t worry, you won’t be paying an arm and a leg … unless you decide to order 4 varieties in ONE pizza, then Michael might come at you with a cleaver!) so you can taste different varieties without having to order excessively.

Bacon & Egg, The HOG

The Hog (Italian Pork Sausages, Smoked Streaky Bacon, Virginia Ham) and Bacon & Eggs

The “Chicken of the Sea” or tuna, onions and pineapple pizza is also a special item NOT featured permanently in the menu. Though with much persuasion (possibly a wink or two), you can try to coerce them into inserting the combination into the permanent menu.

And you really should, for the chunks of briny tuna with loads of chopped onions and cubed pineapples made a beautiful coalition; enough to send one into a seafood frenzy.

My personal favourite pizza from the list? The HOG of course. With an overload of PORKY goodness; bacons, sausages and hams, how can one resist this barbaric/carnivorous creation?!! Pray they do not take this out from the menu, for if you’re in dire need for protein, THIS IS IT. The Bacon And Eggs pizza is also a terrific combination, with overeasy eggs cracked on top of the layers of cheese, then topped with smokey streaked bacons.

Creamy Chicken Stroganoff

Spicy Creamy Chicken Stroganoff – A fiery twist to the classic

Bacon Wrapped Jalapeno with Cheese

Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Pepper stuffed with Cheese – Be prepared to breathe fire ……

Other specials currently on the menu include the spaghetti topped with creamy Chicken Stroganoff, but this one has a fiery kick to it. If you’re good with spicy food, then give their Grilled Bacon-wrapped Jalapeno Pepper with Cheese a try. Want even more kick? Try the peppers WITH the seeds intact!!!! (Ask for Meg to please your sadistic palate)
