Ben’s @ KLCC – More Than Just A Cafe

August 4, 2011 | 18,830 views

Homemade Salted Beef Sandwich with Egg and Cheese

Home-Made Salt Beef Sandwich (RM23.90/USD8) – A warm, tummy-filling fare that’s guaranteed to put a smile on your weary face. TGIF in a few hours already … persevere, dear gluttons.

“Ben’s KLCC was launched April 15th 2011 and is modelled after a Manhattan townhouse. The menu concentrates on international cuisine, ranging from refreshing appetisers and yummy salads to hearty East and West main courses, delicious snacks and luscious desserts.”

(Excerpt from http://www.suriaklcc.com.my/dining/restaurants/bens/)

Ben's @ KLCC

Ben’s; the flagship cafe under the BIG group (responsible for various popular outlets, ie: Plan B, Ben’s General Food Store, T Forty Two, etc) reminded me of Delicious by Ms Read the most. “It is a place that entices people to visit with their friends and families, sharing good food and precious moments; building rituals.” (from their official website)

My Cookbook @ Sunway Giza Mall – Malaysian Cuisine with A Twist

February 15, 2011 | 10,596 views

Signature Prawn Noodles with Poached Egg

Signature freshwater prawn (sang har) noodles with a 45 minutes poached egg swimming in a cauldron of prawn bisque; hearty, sinful and extremely addictive. (RM26.90/USD9)

There was this one time when we decided to venture out to Sunway Giza Mall for dinner; more to because Kota Damansara to me was an entirely new area; uncharted territories if you will. But then again, the sheer lack of in-depth knowledge about the food there got us wandering off to Waroeng Mas Timoer (hope I spelled that right); a Sundanese cuisine specialist. The food was not bad, the various sambal was FIERY to the point me choking on the food.

And trust me when I say my threshold for spicy food is rather high.

Anyway, fast forward a month or so, that place has ‘chup lup’!!! (ceased operations, tutup) Wah, high turnover of restaurants/cafes here, that’s what came to my mind. But the Coffee Chemistry experience was good; and set off wagging tongues I supposed, judging from various reviews thereafter.

For this time around, let’s see how My Cookbook fares; a restaurant serving a myriad of Asian cuisine with a twist. And believe you me, this ain’t another passe of a ‘char chan teng‘ (Hong Kong style of cafe) ….. Read the rest of this entry »
