Bad Boy Cooks. Motormouth Eats.

February 20, 2014 | 16,357 views

Beef Patty with Egg & Mashed Potatoes

For only RM13/USD4 per portion, don’t expect perfectly grilled Angus steaks. At Bad Boy Cooks; the theme is real food, fresh from the kitchen, no frills.

I first visited Oasis Square a year or so ago, having lunch at a place called Crave Cafe. The food was nonetheless .. forgettable for as much as I can recall. The reason we walked in was because the crowd was relatively thinner compared to Mr & Ms Cafe that does better all day breakfasts, desserts and well, gimmicky props for camwhoring/selfie sessions.

If you have not even heard of Oasis Square, and the name sounded as far-fetched as one in the middle of a desert, then you obviously don’t pay enough attention to this up and coming business district at Oasis Ara Damansara. Situated off Subang airport road near to Citta Mall, the entire area has been livened up significantly with big names like Royal Flush Restaurant, Kumar’s Curry Fish Head, Rakuzen and Crazy Crabs.

A bit wary of falling into the same overpriced, mediocre food trap, we set our eyes on Bad Boy Cooks; an American diner style that’s a made in Malaysia brand. And meals costing less than RM20/USD7 per pax including drinks? Game on.

Pun Chun; A Bowl of Duck Noodles That Has Travelled Far …

May 21, 2012 | 13,117 views

Fleshy Duck Drumstick

Pun Chun’s signature Duck Drumstick Mee (dry/soup) @ RM7.30/USD2.40 for Small, RM8.30/USD2.80 for Big – With the tender flesh almost falling off the bones; the duck drumstick was infused with an aromatic herbal scent from the soup; and served in the similar traditional manner of an aluminium container

Not AGAIN?! This my friend, is not the first time I am writing about Pun Chun; the name behind the ridiculously iconic drum drumstick noodles originating from the town of Bidor to the south of Perak.

However, the old Pun Chun has taken the liberty to expand beyond the silver state; first with an acid test of a Pun Chun Noodle House outlet in Kota Kemuning in 2008, then this second one in Ara Damansara, followed closely by a third in Bandar Puteri Puchong.

A Dry Curry Noodle Rivalling Ipoh’s?

September 21, 2011 | 8,116 views

Dry Curry Chicken Noodles

Ipoh style of Dry Curry Kuey Teow (Sar Hor Fun) with abundance of juicy bean sprouts, handful of chopped scallions, perfectly poached chicken, potatoes and beancurd (tau fu pok) underneath. Options include crackling roast pork (siew yoke), char siew (caramelized BBQ pork slices) or even curry cockles!

Pardon the slight hiatus between posts lately. Must be the almighty’s way of telling this glutton to rest up and concentrate on the finer things in life. Those precious little moments we tend to neglect of their existence …. their importance and prominence.

Internet connection at home has been down for two days. To no solid reason yet, at least according to the lady on the other line from TM. Whatever it is, keeping my hopes up for some optimistic outcome tonight.

A short filler of a post today; since Boo threw me a question on where to get the closest thing to the real deal in Ipoh; and we are on to dry curry mee, let me share this place in Ara Damansara …..

Baci @ Citta Mall, Ara Damansara

July 11, 2011 | 19,741 views

Barista @ Work - Baci

In his mixing elements @ Baci; a new Italian-inspired cafe in Citta Mall, Ara Damansara.

Lest you misunderstood that Motormouth has gone back to Ipoh, let me affirm you that I have not, with this post. So happened that over the weekend before last, I went home for a very short stint (2 days in its entirety) and came back with a few good finds to be shared. Not entirely new restaurants or cafes in Ipoh though, sorry to burst your bubble.

But aside from the spanking new Hokkaido Japanese Restaurant (the next post, I promise), I revisited the good old food stalls in Ipoh that I have grown up with, and partly responsible for developing this discerning palate.

Baci Italian Cafe @ Citta Mall

A spacious, well-aerated and lit by natural sunlight al fresco area of Baci; recreating the laid-back European style of cafe ambience. A perfect atmosphere for a casual breakfast-brunch on a lazy Sunday.

Now, let me shake off this Monday blues (or the last half hour of it) by sharing this new cafe named Baci; located on the ground floor of a relatively new shopping mall in Ara Damansara named Citta Mall.

When Frogs Meet Clams … (Lala Chong Seafood Restaurant @ Ara Damansara)

December 9, 2010 | 16,983 views

Fine time to be writing a piece on KL food for a change? Yup, almost a week now since I have settled down here in the city pumped with adrenaline from dusk til dawn. Still have yet to fully go on an eating spree, for unlike Ipoh, food hunting in KL can only be done after office hours (if you’re lucky and not caught in the jam for hours, or stuck in the office staring into the blank soul of a computer wishing to close that deal), OR on the weekends or public holidays.

Siong Tong La La

That is, if you’re still left standing from the 5 tormenting days of tough, labourious work.

Nah …. I was exaggerating. Truth is, almost everyone is in the holiday mood. From school children to working adults desperately seeking to clear their remaining leave, I wouldn’t be surprised if the traffic double come 2011.

Anyway, enough rambling already. Set that napkin into place and let’s do this, once more. Drool with me, people …… Read the rest of this entry »
