And though not entirely ‘wordless’, here’s a short paragraph on the dinner experience at Vicchuda Tomyam in Damansara Utama (more popularly known as Damansara Uptown).

Not a new place or exciting discovery in every sense of the word, as Vicchuda has been around for some time and relatively renowned for their brand of Thai-inspired dishes (especially the Tom Yum Seafood Soup) and a wide selection of Malay cuisine; conventional choices like Daging Masak Merah, Siakap Masak Tiga Rasa, Udang Goreng Tepung and Ayam Paprik.

Nothing stellar based on the dishes we shared, yet we unanimously agreed that this could be THE Malay Tom Yam restaurant that sits a slight notch above the rest. Service was prompt, premise is a bit rundown yet being seated at the outer portion, we did not reek of grease or smoke after the meal.

Prices are pretty reasonable, within the medium range with nothing above RM20 per dish. Except the seafood dishes, of course. Parking’s a cinch on weekends or during dinner hours, but come on weekdays for lunch and you’ll probably lose a handful of hair. Or patience.

200 words flat. Whoops. I really need to practise self-constraint when writing short stories.

“Any good Thai-Malay Tom Yam & Seafood restaurants in KL/PJ that I should not miss?“

Looks good! We’ll try this soon!

If you’re looking for more Malay tomyam, have you tried Yusuf Tomyam in Lucky Gardens, Bangsar? That’s the best for us so far!

Nope, but thanks for the tip. Lucky Garden’s a stranger to me. Only been to Nam Chuan – the Sarawak laksa place once.

Hi..there are many vicchuda outlets in pj but my personal favourite would be in dataran sunway. The owner changed the restaurant’s name to restaurant Waneeda recently. Our fave are daging masak merah, Tom yam, ayam golek, lidah goreng kunyit…:)
