Pretty alluring for some fresh strawberries and blueberries pastries huh? At Levain, you can effortlessly go overboard with your breads and pastries if you’re not careful. Temptations abound at every corner!

And so, after weeks of procrastination, delays, unexpected excursions and of course …. the occasional need to recharge Motormouth’s batteries (and somewhat detox?), I finally made it (yay!) to Levain Boulangerie & Patisserie (let’s shorten that to Levain for the remainder of this post, okay?).

Been months, since I first read the review from Rebecca on this charming premise with a colonial touch; contemporary decor with a fine British element to it. We felt as though we have stepped into the comfort of someone’s secluded/luxurious bungalow; almost akin to the warm sensation one gets when having scones and tea at The Smokehouse @ Cameron Highlands.

Two floors of meticulously-designed facade and interior, reflecting the quaint charm of a high tea session on a Sunday evening. When coupled with an inner desire to binge on fresh, stone oven-baked breads, a visit to Levain will be sure to please ….

Meticulously arranged cutlery to please the senses, well before the feast was laid out in front of your eyes. Sometimes in life, when you’ve lost the zest, go for some Zing instead!

This here being the SECOND restaurant to be featured from the list of 8, Zing @ Grand Millennium Hotel situated next to Pavilion Shopping Centre in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur offers 8 dishes for 8 pax per table, at RM888+ for the same period of time (20th January 2011 – 17th February 2011). Elegant. Majestic. Opulent. Stylish. Classic and Contemporary. Pampered.

I was a klutz. I never noticed that this hotel next to Pavilion, opposite of Fahrenheit 88 is named Grand Millennium, albeit the many times I have walked past and choked on the smogs from the traffic. The omnipresent barrage of vehicles zooming along Jalan Bukit Bintang; and though I was not stuck in the traffic prior to the dinner, I was caught up in the congestion AFTER the meal. So be warned.

Anyway, the Standard Chartered Extravagant 8 Menu extends to all Standard Chartered Bank’s credit card holders; a rather irresistible offer of approximately RM111+ per pax since the 8 restaurants featured are by no means pushovers; but amongst the BEST dining establishments in KL.

Where to stay in city centre, with basic amenities; strategically within range of the Golden Triangle of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, yet won’t break a hole in the pocket? Try Leisure Inn @ Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, Pudu.

Remember in one of the last few posts; I wrote about Ah Koong Eating House? The fish ball specialist originating from Johor Bahru surprised me with their selection of yong tau foo (stuffed fish paste) and such, was actually our pick for breakfast given the extremely near location to where we stayed for two nights.

Thanks to Rebecca for introducing me to Cherrie, the owner of Leisure Inn in a timely manner. Though Cherrie was out of the country when I was relocating to KL, she made sure that we had a pleasant, fuss free time being put up at her pride that is Leisure Inn; a Preferred Business Lodge.

A room sufficient for one to two pax; most notable for the comfortable, clean and plush beds and pillows. Not as spacious as I had imagined, but for the reasonable rates, that is certainly understandable.

Thin, springy (QQ) buckwheat noodles with multiple garnishing and ingredients thrown in

The strips of duck meat were not chewy, nor gamey. Sprinkled with lots of sesame seeds, the shredded meat and vegetables were perfect companion to the cold noodles, and the slightly spicy and sour sauce enhanced the overall experience a notch. Recommended, for the noodles alone.
