Day 2 (Part 2) – Tanah Lot Sunset & TJ’s Mexican Food @ Kuta, Bali

October 18, 2009 | 13,274 views

Tanah Lot Sunset5

Sunset @ Tanah Lot – Of warm sun setting on the horizon, and rippling waves crashing at the shores ……..

After the slews of temples visit, and a half-hearted attempt of a lunch, we adjourned to Tanah Lot, hands down one of the MOST popular spot for sunset-watching in Bali. In and around Tanah Lot, one can find the grounds with lots of traders doing brisk business by selling clothes, accessories, crafts, souvenirs and such. But of course, bargaining is a MUST. Some may argue that the souvenirs (or ‘oleh-oleh‘, in their language) at Tanah Lot are way cheaper than the other places, such as Sukawati, and Goa Gajah. But personally, I had no problems settling for some T-shirts, key chains, fridge magnets and the likes, at a much lower price over at Sukawati Art Market (to come in a much later post).

Day 2 (Part 1) – Pura Taman Ayun, Strawberry Stop & Pura Ulu Danu @ Bratan Lake, Bedugul

October 16, 2009 | 9,529 views

From previous chapter of Bali Day 1 – Bali Sorgawi Hotel & Made’s Warung in Kuta …..

Breakfast Bali Sorgawi Hotel

Breakfast spread at Bali Sorgawi Hotel in Kuta, Bali – Complimentary with the rooms provided (for rates and contact, please refer to the previous post HERE)

After endless hours on transportation modes, from trains to bus and flight to van, we retired to our slumber in record’s time, but not before channel-surfing for a dose of Hollywood in the form of Terminator : Rise of the Machines on cable channel. Nothing beats a shower after some serious brisk walking for at least a kilometre (or probably more) from Bali Sorgawi Hotel to Made’s Warung, followed by some pampering in the form of appeasing the couch potatoes in us.

Entrance to Pura Taman Ayun

Day two of our journey started off with a bang. Waking up refreshed, and recharged, we had our breakfast in the hotel. Options include the predictable toasts, fried rice and fried noodles. But we ain’t complaining, for free food sounded good, plus eliminating the need to walk under the hot sun (note that the sun rises comparatively early in Bali, and by 9-10am, it got a little too warm for a leisurely stroll).

Warning for Ladies

Better plan ahead, ladies. Or bring along some pills to delay your monthly calling.

Bali Day 1 – Bali Sorgawi Hotel & Made’s Warung in Kuta

October 15, 2009 | 14,963 views

Had enough of the food posts? Longing for some food and adventures out of Malaysia? Like the Bangkok story in July, the Hanoi escape way back in February? Or even missing my incessant ramblings last year when I sweated it out with thousands of others in Macau and Hong Kong? (note to self – DON’T EVER CHOOSE TO TRAVEL IN THE HOT SUN AGAIN!!!!)

Then HEY!!!! You’re in luck !!!! (Or not, depends on how eager or bored you are). For J2Kfm had just returned from Bali two days ago, and my engines are back in roaring form now, with words pouring out like curses/swear words in the elections/emergency GM.

KLIA Transit to LCCT

“Eh, we’d better sell these tickets off or our arses would be fired like rockets on steroids! …. what you mean they’re FREE?!!”

Where do I start now? Hmm ….. we booked these tickets since November of 2008. Yup, almost a year ago. So imagine the initial euphoria, then the slowly-fading interest, then reignited anticipation a few months before, followed by the looming threats of terrorists, natural disasters, and of course, the infamous pandemic.

With mixed feelings, and half-prepared, we were off on a journey to the island of Bali, Indonesia ………

Blissfully Bali 2009 – 7 Days of Sun, Sea, Temples, and Food

October 14, 2009 | 4,033 views

Blissful Bali

I’m back. Not stronger than ever, nor better than ever. Far from it, even.

But darn sure darker by a few shades, feeling most lethargic and still reeling from the unwise decision of booking an extra early flight, forcing us to wake up at an unGodly hour.

It’s been 7 years since that incident. A most heart-wrenching, chilling and tragic phenomenon condemned by every single human on earth. And to be in Kuta town of Bali sometime around the anniversary of that incident had us doubting our decisions to book our flight a year ago (yup, THAT long …. for some free tickets).

But we still persevered, soldiered on amidst the quakes, the ever-looming threat of being bombed to smithereens, and the now-overlooked flu threat.

And I came back in one piece. Albeit a much, much darker piece. 😉

Stay tuned for the many (many, many, many) chapters in the near future ……… zzzz……..

(P/S : Btw, consider subsribing to my RSS feeds to avoid missing any part of my ramblings, recommendations, rantings, and reviews of my 2009 Bali getaway)
