J2Kfm aka Motormouth – Born, raised and used to work in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. Relocated to Kuala Lumpur/Selangor since Dec 2010, moved to Singapore from July 2014 to June 2015, and now based in Hong Kong. I have a strong penchant for good food, an even stronger desire to travel, and naturally, rant and ramble incessantly on any topics under the sun.
Q : When was this blog started, and how? Another one of those “calling from the skies”?
A : This blog named Motormouth From Ipoh was started on 3rd March 2008. I’ve jumped from the Blogger platform to my own domain here, at www.j2kfm.com. If you’re one who loves to dig up the older archives, do drop by my previous blog at this address: http://j2kfm.blogspot.com. My interest started when I was reading food blogs back in 2008, and was impressed by the immensely captivating/delicious contents.
Q : Why J2Kfm, and why Motormouth? You’re a robot running on oil?
A : Ha-Ha-Ha. Nope, actually this blog was named Food Glorious Food. Yeah, many might not know about this, but I changed the name to Motormouth From Ipoh as I wanted something different. Motormouth; because I eat like one heck of a bulldozer. And I speak my mind on most issues, sometimes getting myself in hot soup for my rants. J2Kfm has been a nick I use since the Millennium Bug fiasco. No meaning behind this, so don’t crack your head deciphering!
Q : You write so often, you must be eating free food all the time and writing biased reviews ?!!
A : On the contrary, I don’t accept paid reviews, advertorials, or compensation for the write-ups. I prefer to stay neutral, and remain inconspicuous when eating out. Unless approached by the proprietor(s) or staff, I don’t make it a point to tell them that I’ll be writing about the visit.
But I do accept food review invitations, but I still state my mind on things. If it’s good, it’s good. Aug 2015 update: I no longer accept food review invitation, but I will be a more than willing paying customer if your restaurant fascinates me.
Q : Are you available on any other social media platform?
MY PHOTOGRAPHY GEARS
Nikon D7000 is my current camera since May 2011, paired up with a Tamron 17-50mm/f2.8 lens. Just got myself a Nikkor Speedlight SB-700 in July 2012. Still an amateur here, so don’t go asking me for tips/tricks. The Hong Kong/Macau 2011 Saga was when I first started snapping using this DSLR camera.
Panasonic Lumix LX3 has been my companion since February 2009. A reliable digital camera with a fast shutter, manual controls, and sturdy built, this was a good buy for semi-pro point & shoot.
Nokia 5610 Xpress Music with a 3.2 megapixel camera was used before that since March 2008. That explains why when you read all the older entries, you’ll be looking at grainy shots whereas from the Hanoi 2009 Saga onwards, the quality of the pictures improved.
