A Leisure Retreat in the Heart of the CityDecember 16, 2010 | 2,179 views
Where to stay in city centre, with basic amenities; strategically within range of the Golden Triangle of Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, yet won’t break a hole in the pocket? Try Leisure Inn @ Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, Pudu.
Remember in one of the last few posts; I wrote about Ah Koong Eating House? The fish ball specialist originating from Johor Bahru surprised me with their selection of yong tau foo (stuffed fish paste) and such, was actually our pick for breakfast given the extremely near location to where we stayed for two nights.
Thanks to Rebecca for introducing me to Cherrie, the owner of Leisure Inn in a timely manner. Though Cherrie was out of the country when I was relocating to KL, she made sure that we had a pleasant, fuss free time being put up at her pride that is Leisure Inn; a Preferred Business Lodge.
A room sufficient for one to two pax; most notable for the comfortable, clean and plush beds and pillows. Not as spacious as I had imagined, but for the reasonable rates, that is certainly understandable.

A warm touch to the usually stark walls coated in a cold, white paint, seems that every floor was painted with a different floral motive (I did not take the lifts and had a whale of a time visiting all four floors of Leisure Inn, hence I can’t share the other artistic touch)
The initial promotional rate for a night stay at Leisure Inn was RM88 nett per room per night. You can see from Rebecca’s post HERE. But after the initial month, the rates have been increased to justify the running cost. Given the fact that this place is very new, and within the heart of the city; they now charge about RM130+ per room per night; (for the revised room rates and availability, please call them instead).
Flat screen television mounted on the wall, with lcoal channels as well as several cable stations (Astro’s). Pity the transmission was not satisfactory
The rooms are not equipped with free Wifi, but you can get free wired broadband access from the comfort of your room. Very essential for business executives on the run, and they do provide free cables.
Clean bathroom complete with a yellow bath robe, powerful shower head (love this type that simulates rainfall), and a very thoughtful matted floor lining to prevent slipping and falling while you’re in the shower.
Aside from the poor TV reception, I had no other complaints. The two nights spent were wonderful, a gentle respite from the bustling city, yet Times Square is merely a short walk away. And from Times Square, you can actually reach the other famous shopping hubs of Bukit Bintang; namely Pavilion, Sungei Wang Plaza, Low Yat Plaza, Lot 10, and of course the latest addition; Fahrenheit 88.
There is no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, but there is complimentary bottled water (two bottles per day per room). You do get a toiletry kit, hung on the wall in the bathroom, and there is a hair dryer as well. No ironing facility, but you can request from housekeeping I suppose.
Parking may be a hindrance though, as you have to park in this open air lot next to the hotel. RM5 for one day, and you are free to place your car overnight. Just be cautious and try to park at a brighter spot, nearer to the road.
Thanks to Cherrie and the management/staff of Leisure Inn. We do appreciate the complimentary stay at Leisure Inn, and here’s hoping that this business lodge can become one of the preferred choices when it comes to simple, budgeted accommodation in KL, with a heart.
