Hi immosquito. Thanks, that will be the notorious Chili Pan Mee, as some have commented on their service.
I did write a post on their branch in Pandan Indah before.

Hi, Motormouth, I really enjoy reading your blog. I am originally from Ipoh mali
and now residing in New Zealand. I always take the opportunity to explore new places to eat whenever I return to Malaysia and your blog is a great help for me to find these places.
I was wondering if you can also group your KL/Selangor Food into a list by places like what you did for Perak food. I will be going back to Malaysia in April and can’t wait to try out some of the food in the places you have mentioned both in Ipoh and KL.
Cheers!

Hi there CT.
Yeah, am thinking about doing something like that … just that the list ain’t that ‘matured’ yet, without sufficient places to
be compiled into something substantial. Soon enough, yeah?

Hi have you tried Teluk Intan food in Subang? The shop name is Anson. CCF taste quite nice.

Hi Linda. Yeah I have just tried yesterday morning. But the Teluk Intan CCF was not as good as the original though. Far from it, I found it too dry and bland.

That anson place is horrible. No offense k. But just cant take it. The chicken rice shop few shops away is pretty decent. The stir fried roast pork there is very good. The free soup is awesome too. Char siew is above average too but I didnt wow me yet

Actually I have tasted the Anson coffee shop/kopitiam too. Did not manage to wow me either, and the Anson CCF was dry and bland.
Oh well, here’s to more wishful thinking?
Hey there. enjoyed your blog alot.
For japanese food, there are many ?authentic shops alongside each other opposite Subang Jaya Medical Centre, beside the motorway. Started off with RakuZen having rave reviews, now theres Tomoe, etc. Some restaurants even get the waiters/assistants also from japan. Quite authentic japanese food but some dishes maybe a bit tasteless to us malaysians. Be aware of the rude indian jockeys sitting outside though… more of a nuisance than a help.

Hi there! Yeah, was supposed to write on Hyotan, after the Rakuzen and Jyu Raku experiences. Maybe I shall combine everything into one post.
Still a few more to go, before the post covers everything.

Char siew i recommend:
No 1: My favourite is at overseas restaurant @ Armada PJ. The ‘BOMB’. Seriously but pricey.
No 2: Ah Kai char siew @ Paramount Pj. Different to conventional char siew but melts in ur mouth literally in a very pleasant way. This is seriously cheap and best and extremely hygienic. Just stay on and see how this burmese owner takes care of his stall after closing up and you will get what i mean.
No 3: At glenmarie. Not sure the shop name but it is overated to me seriously. Quite lansi since cant buy char siew alone without getting other dishes. Good but so so only.

Overseas Restaurant in PJ? Oh … the one in Ipoh also serves a rather good char siew, being of the right proportion of meat + fat. Ah Kai Char Siew? Eh … this one is new to me. Is it same as Char Siew Zhai? Or nearby?
The Glenmarie one would be the sakura pork I think, Golden Spring or something. Last I tried, the shop has moved or I could be searching at the wrong place?

Ah kai char siew is located in a kopitiam/coffee chop. I really dunno whats the shop name but basically if u know Paramount in Pj, this place is located just off the busy paramount food area, along the shops perpendicular to the road u will travel from jalan 222 to paramount. Using that road from 222 area, all the way u will pass paramount which will be on ur left. Go further down u will reach a traffic light facing a row of elevated 2 storey shops. Turning left from this point will lead u to KFC. U turn right here and this coffee shop is about 100m from there on ur left. U will notice 2 coffee shop facing each other and seperated by a housing road. It is the shop on ur left when u turn in. Be there before 1pm before the char siew finish. Nothing else is tasty in that shop. The opposite coffee shop has loads of variety hence more people.

Oh thanks. Good directions there, ILOVEFOOD. I know where this is now. But not specifically the shop, yet I know there are a few shops there
that serve good hawker food. One pan mee stall along the row of elevated shops too.

Thanks J2Kfm. Really hope u manage to find this Ah kai char siew place. If u see a burmese guy wearing a chef like hat ( the tall white ones ) with full on chef uniform cutting some char siew, then u know u have found the place. Mind u its not very healthy as it is a little greasy but what the heck, it is worth it.

Haha … no sweat. I never cared much about the unhealthy stuff anyway, as I am not having these on a day to day basis. A little indulgence goes a long way in preparing the mind for work.

Hi J2Kfm, have you tried the new Cameron Valley Tea house in Jalan Telawi 8 Bangsar ( same row as Mcdonalds) ? New dining concept store with fresh Cameron Highlands produce and original 100% Cameron Valley highland teas – did you know Boh is no longer 100% cameron tea ( they blend with foreign variants).
Anyway this place has very healthy food, nice unique signature dishes (fusion stuff) and lovely teas – but best of all is the cosy ambience – brings back that feeling of being in the cool highlands, sipping on tea and enjoying home-baked scones with cream and home made strawberry jam.
The entire range of teas is available at the store, and over 40 types of preparations. But the food will surprise you – really well done and healthy – no msg only natural flavours. The grilled salmon dish is done to perfection – not like other more expensive places where the salmon tends to be overcooked.
They have an active FB page with loads of deals for FB fans too – i recently had RM10 off my grilled salmon meal through their voucher download program so it’s worth liking the page. http://www.facebook.com/CameronValley
well hope you try it soon and let the rest of us know how your experience is!
