Bali Day 6 (Finale) – Uluwatu Sunset & Jimbaran Seafood

March 27, 2010 | 2,119 views | 20 Comments »

Wait, is this for REAL? Half year on, and I’m STILL rambling on and on about BALI?!!!!

Yeah yeah … I heard you groaning back there. But after a cringing 3 months of hiatus, I’ve decided to bring closure to the BALI 2009 SAGA before my memory fails me in a complete whiteout episode.

Pineapple Pancakes

Sick of the same old choices at Jati 3 Bungalows, we decided to push our luck and ventured out to the streets of Ubud, only to falter and ended up with breakfast at Babyface Cafe, a short distance away from our hotel

Picking up where I left off from the 5th day’s recollection (where we licked our fingers after a satisfying BBQ pork ribs experience at Nuri’s Warung) the 6th day saw us enjoying every single moment to its fullest, for it’s the unofficially LAST DAY for us in Bali. Unofficial, in the sense that we’re departing back home on the next day, albeit on a very, VERY early flight.

A photos-heavy post after the jump. Be afraid. Be very afraid. ;)

Bali Day 5 – Pork Ribs @ Nuri’s Warung, Cafe Wayan, Sanur Beach & Denpasar Monument

December 13, 2009 | 2,226 views | 30 Comments »

For the full chapter-by-chapter accounts of my Bali trip back in October of 2009, click HERE.

I am seriously in need of some discipline. One whole month has passed since I last posted something with regards to my Bali trip two months ago. I know, I know. Procrastination’s one of my ‘stronger’ points no doubt, but have you ever experienced those days when you felt that enough is enough, and you’d rather tie those loose ends and be done with it?

Denpasar Monument

Through the gap, I saw light shining from beyond … @ Bajra Sandhi Monument, Denpasar, Bali

And now, my dear friends, the time draws nigh for the next chapter in the saga. We’re still on Day 5, by the way, after we shopped at Sukawati Art Market, strolled around the grounds of Goa Gajah, and then visited the infamously crammed with traffic city of Denpasar, the capital of Bali.

Banjra Sandhi Monument @ Denpasar, Bali

We passed by a grand structure of a monument in the midst of a spacious field in the city centre of Denpasar, and good old Komang Triawan (our driver for the whole journey, for your information) explained that the Bajra Sandhi Monument is one of Denpasar’s landmark, but to enter the interior vicinity of the grounds, one has to pay. Okaaaayyy ….. But wait, there were so many people prancing around on the green fields stretching for hundreds of metres surrounding the monument, in their most recreational modes. To which Mr Komang answered, Oh, we could walk around the fields FOC, but could not step inside the gated area of the monument. Fine with us, for we were in no mood to climb the stairs nor perform our prayers anyway.

Bali Day 5 – Sukawati, Goa Gajah, Pasar Badung, Ayam Betutu Gilimanuk & Bakso Ayam

November 12, 2009 | 2,010 views | 16 Comments »

For the complete listing of day by day posts on my Bali trip, hop over to Blissfully Bali 2009 – A 7 Days/6 Nights Getaway …..

Red Chillies

1. Red, Orange, Yellow and Green. Feel the heat yet?

Life’s hectic lately. So kindly give me some leeway, and allow me to write a much shorter post, than the usual ‘incessant’ ramblings. This is part 8 of my Bali posts, covering the first half of the 5th day we were in Bali. We were still staying in Ubud, by the way. And after the previous whole day of free & easy in Ubud which saw us digging into the Babi Guling at Ibu Oka’s, followed by a 1 hour and 45 minutes of pampering at Venezia Spa, we continued the daily tour itinerary on the fifth day. We started our journey early by venturing to Pasar Seni Sukawati (Sukawati Art Market) for some cheap shopping, then a visit to Goa Gajah, and followed by a tour around Denpasar, a bustling city with horrendous traffic.

Pasar Seni Sukawati

2. Pasar Seni Sukawati – A most pleasant place to shop for good deals

Bali Day 4 (Part 2) – Venezia Spa & Pizza Bagus

November 1, 2009 | 2,126 views | 19 Comments »

Lotus Pond Ubud

What an amazing sight – Of pink petals, green leaves and running waters ….. a lotus pond with flowering joy on Jalan Raya Pengosekan, Ubud, Bali

After the slightly underwhelming Babi Guling meal at Ibu Oka, we ventured back to Jati 3, our accommodation to refresh ourselves. Before setting foot on the next item on our itinerary ….. the most rejuvenating SPA session. Coming to Bali without paying a single visit to any spa would be a SIN, really. For a 2 hours session (1 hour and 45 minutes in actual) only cost about IDR 150,000 / RM 55 / USD16 per person. And best of all, there are LOADS of spas in Ubud for you to choose from.

Venezia Spa

Venezia Day Spa on Monkey Forest Road, Ubud, Bali …. where we found some form of pampering, but NOT as relaxing as we had initially expected ……

Bali Day 4 – Ibu Oka Babi Guling, Jati 3 Bungalows & Pasar Ubud

October 29, 2009 | 2,651 views | 27 Comments »

Jati 3 Bungalows Ubud

It has been THAT long since I’ve posted anything on Bali. Nah …… not ages, but merely a week apart. For the previous installation of my Blissfully Bali 2009 series, do hop over to Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner) whereby you’ll read about one of our better dining experience throughout our 7 days in Bali, Indonesia. Been there, done that? Okay …. then read on, and find out about our most quaint and isolated (from the main road of Monkey Forest Road, that is) accommodation at Jati 3 Bungalows, and the undoubtedly Bali’s exclusive pride of a dish, the infamous “Babi Guling” aka Roasted Pig with Spices …….

Bali Food : Bebek Bengil (Dirty Duck Diner) @ Ubud

October 22, 2009 | 3,437 views | 33 Comments »

Bebek Bengil Address

Hands down one of the BEST dining experience we had while we were in Bali, was at Bebek Bengil, or more commonly known as Dirty Duck Diner in Ubud town of Bali. Tourists from all over the globe have stepped into, cracked some duck’s bones, and subsequently sworn allegiance to the 19 years old restaurant, situated in Padang Tegal, in the heart of Ubud town.
