Strawberry Moment Dessert Cafe @ Cameron Highlands
May 30, 2010 | 7,868 viewsIce Baby (RM11.90/USD3.60) – A cross between the ice blended beverage and the milkshake
Refer to the previous post on Strawberry Park Resort & Cameron Valley Tea Shop for a better idea on why Motormouth’s everywhere in the month of May.
Strawberry Strudel (RM7.50/USD2.30) – Easily their most popular signature item off their rather extensive ‘strawberry-fied’ menu
Given the lapse of time between two consecutive events, we were somewhat stuck at a crossroad of decisions. Either sleep in throughout the 5 hours allocated for absolutely nothing-at-all, OR take up the Cameron Highlands day tour offer (few hours, at most) that covered most of the farms, gardens, tea plantations, etc.
Or better yet, go for a random drive around town(s) to seek for good grubs in-between meals, immersing oneself in the mesmerizing scenery, and embracing the cool breeze (or lack thereof?) of the highlands. Hence, we stopped over for a brief moment at Strawberry Moment Dessert Cafe in Brinchang town for some sweet delights.
Strawberry Milkshake (RM10.90/USD3.30) – A creamy, milky concoction
This cafe is located at Brinchang Point, very near to the weekend night market of Brinchang, and within spitting distance from the famous Cactus Valley, where we had an enviable array of strawberry desserts back then.
Strawberry Moment in fact, has been operating for merely a few years. But this place has been catching on especially with the younger crowd, looking for a place to relax and engage in nonsensical banters (okay, maybe not all …). After all, not every teenager would like to patronize the ‘chu char‘ and steamboat restaurants, or the more commercialized Starbucks (at Tanah Rata), or KFC (in Brinchang).
Strawberry Ice Blend & Strawberry White Coffee (both for RM5.90/USD1.80 each)
Truthfully, the desserts at Strawberry Moment were nothing stellar, but priced rather reasonably (some might argue that they’re above average, or even exorbitant … but then again, this IS Cameron Highlands after all!!!), making this cafe almost the ideal place to hang out when you’re not in the mood to brace the many twists and turns leading to Sungai Palas Boh Tea Plantation, or unwilling to mortgage an arm and a leg for scones and tea at The Smokehouse.
Given the rather obvious moniker, it’s a no-brainer what they’re specializing in; Desserts. Strawberries. Cafe.
The strudels command to be ordered, priced at RM29.90/USD9 for the full length (about one foot long). A piece at RM7.50 only, it’s a steal in comparison to the other pricier items on the menu. So was it any good? I’d rate it a decent choice, still flaky but hardly memorable. The slices of strawberries with cream wedged between the pastries lent a subtle tartness to the strudel.
The other beverages were standard fares; the Strawberry White Coffee being slightly different from the others. And they sell the Strawberry Premium Roast in nice packages at the adjacent retail outlet, in case you crave for a take-away fix.
Pardon the flies … (yes, when you’re in a cafe surrounded by farms and plantations … the buzzing companions would be almost omnipresent) but a visit to Strawberry Moment Dessert Cafe is probably on most visitors’ to-do list now ….
By the way, this is NOT their first outlet. Surprised? They have another outlet at Green View Garden (www) that incorporates the concept of strawberry farm, hydroponic vegetable plantations, and a cafe all under one roof. You will definitely pass by Green View Garden if you’re using the Simpang Pulai-Tringkap-Terla-Kampung Raja-Brinchang way.

Oh I remember passing by this restaurant! But I’m not exactly a fan of strawberries, not Cameron’s strawberries though.. they’re sour!! Aren’t they? I only had sweet strawberries before when I was in Shanghai/Hangzhou recently..

Yup, the strawberries there are not that sweet, unless you go for the LARGE ones that may cost a bomb. Me thinks the better quality ones are shipped or sold off to restaurants and cafes on the lowlands.

I am still seeking for the best scones in Cameron Highlands though. Read from somewhere that Cameronian Inn serves a great version, but I have yet to try. Smokehouse’s scones were good, but somewhat not buttery enough.
Maybe Cameron Highlands Resort’s pricier $$$ ones … or Bala’s Chalet’s?

Erm … it was not the best that I have tasted, but for RM7.50 a slice, that chunk was certainly worth the price paid.
