Egg-Cellent All Day Breakfast @ Austin Chase Coffee, The Gardens

BIG Breakfast @ Austin Chase

SET 6 : Salmon with Baked Bean and Hash Brown + Coffee @ RM10.90/USD3.60

Perfect for a lazy Sunday morning (or in this case, a Monday post-Labour day celebration! Gotta love how Malaysia’s celebrating all of the major and minor festivals, and then some ….), for breakfast/brunch or even a late lunch, Austin Chase Coffee (3 outlets now, I believe – The Gardens Midvalley, Pavilion and Sunway Giza) offers EGG-CELLENT all day breakfast deals from RM6.90 – RM10.90 per set that comes with a regular black coffee.

Whereas you would have expected the coffee to come in mugs befitting the fingers of a tiny dwarf’s, we were pleasantly surprised (not to mention the impending caffeine high …) with the HUGE-a$$ mug of coffee that I found myself struggling to finish the last few sips. Maybe because I chose to upgrade to a latte (+RM3/USD1), and the heavier than usual breakfast hit all the right spots, plus supplementing this caffeine addict with sufficient dose.

Read more to find out about the 6 sets on their list; and how the 15 minutes or so of wait was made worthy in the end …..

Latte @ Austin Chase

Austin Chase Coffee – Don’t get mistaken. This mug was more than enough for one. Additional upgrade to a latte (RM3), flavoured coffee (RM4.50) or even their selection of frappe (ice-blended) (RM5)

Austin Chase Coffee has their origins from Seattle (read from their website here), and made its way to our shores sometime last year,or the year before. This outlet at The Gardens was the first I believe. Though I was not sure of how this would fare against the likes of Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Bad Ass Coffee, San Francisco Coffee etc, thus giving this a miss.

Until this last Monday morning. When I remembered about their irresistible breakfast deals; the informer (culprit?) being Jason. And he’s not even a coffee lover at that.

Toast & Jam

Set 2 : Wholemeal Bread with Butter and Jam @ RM6.90/USD2.30

Turkey Ham, Scrambled Eggs, Bread

Set 1 : Scrambled Eggs with smoked turkey ham (or chicken sausage) with Toast @ RM9.90/USD3.30

Salmon with Scrambled Eggs on Toast

And this was hands down; the best of the lot. Priced at a ‘premium’ RM10.90 to boot. But just exceptionally filling with two hash browns (though scarily greasy), baked beans, ample serving of scrambled eggs (remember the salt and pepper, as the eggs was bland) on wholemeal bread. And then there was the latte ….. I skipped lunch, (un)willingly.

They offer 6 sets; the other 3 not in the pictures above include :

Set 3 : Toast with Baked Bean (RM8.90)
Set 4 : Choice of Pastry/Muffin (RM8.90)
Set 5 : Scrambled Egg with Hash Brown (RM9.90)

The breakfast fares were far from earth-shattering nor boundary-breaking stuff. Just plain, good old Western breakfast sets with coffee. So that you can fall back on their all day breakfast deals whenever you feel like it. Plus, the sets are priced rather reasonably when you think about the premise where these outlets are located at.

I mean, when a plate of (mediocre) noodles at Pavilion’s Food Republic can cost you up to RM8-RM10 per serving, Austin Chase Coffee throws in a hearty portion of breakfast PLUS (once again …) a HUGE a$$ mug of coffee to take your blues away.

Austin Chase @ The Garden

I’d say … BRING IT ON. Now let’s see how the other coffee specialists fare with their breakfast deals. Starbucks and Coffee Bean serve them, but I have always fall back on their Frappucino’s/Ice-Blended wonders. (P/S : Starbucks bake extremely sweet muffins though, and that’s a no-no …)

Ya ya that’s the one! I remember I told you about it when you mentioned about the Tom Dick and Harry’s breakfast 😛 I also had the salmon set! So filling (even though I didn’t finish the hash browns for obvious reasons :P).

Yeahloh…. too greasy ah? Or too full?
But the hash brown was delightful. Crunchy and not salty.
